The definition for NAKED is as follows:
- Having nothing on; undressed; without a stitch on; in the raw; buck-naked; butt-naked; mother-naked.
- Uncovered; unprotected; exposed; unguarded.
- Bare; Baren; stripped; uncovered; denuded.
- Vulnerable; helpless; weak; powerless; defenseless; exposed; devoid of concealment or disguise.
In summation, nakedness means that the person is wearing no clothes, they are uncovered and exposed in a way that feels embarrassing, exploited (maybe sexually), helpless, powerless and defenseless. That means, NAKED is a deprivation of clothing or any covering, for that matter; an undesirable condition of bareness.
As for the definition for NUDE, the laundry list is a little less complicated:
- Not covered by clothing or drape; no natural or conventional covering
- Lack of any essential or validity
- Of the color of the skin giving the appearance of nudity
- Featuring nudes, frequented by naked and nude people
- Reprsenting the nude human figure or sculpture.
Someone who is not wearing any clothes is NAKED. The adjective is usually aasociated with revealing a part of the body (eg naked breast). But again, someone not wearing clothes will also be said to be NUDE, except that nude people are in a location and condition where they feel very comfortable. Being nude is natural and considered beautiful. Therefore, a nude body condition is done with no embarrassment. Naked denotes deprivation of clothing, weakness, lack of protection and defense. Nude is plainly a condition of willingness and choice. Though they are used interchangeably in our daily life, the words are different in meaning.
